I have been preparing independently - and without knowledge of this page - a German article de:Tran Trong Kim. My only source was also the article cited here as reference. Reading this text here I find that it is not just quoted but copied in many instances word-by-word, although it may just be within bounds. 8Anybody with a JSTOR license may read teh original as pdf) Zenwort

陳仲金

[edit]

陳仲金 (birth name) added because his parents assigned him this name during an era in which such characters were used in Vietnam, and because they carry meaning and etymology behind the name. Badagnani (talk) 03:47, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In light of the following paragraph, and because vi:WP includes, in an effort to be as encyclopedic as possible, the characters of this individual's birth (not excluding them for apparently POV reasons), the characters should be included so that our article is 100% encyclopedic and not 98 or 98% encyclopedic.

I think it's a waste of time discussing this with you seeing as you like to add etymolgoy sections everywhere, making some articles 50% on Han tu. YellowMonkey (click here to choose Australia's next top model!) 03:57, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have to agree with Badagnani to include Chinese characters in this case. He's one of the foremost authorities on Confucianism, and while his book Viet Nam su luoc was in quoc ngu, he included Han tu gloss for each name he mentioned in the book. DHN (talk) 04:59, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not trying to waste anyone's time but to enhance the article with information that makes it more encyclopedic. If this individual were alive today he would probably find our project interesting, and would probably support the inclusion of the glosses. Also, I don't add etymology sections everywhere, just in articles where it's appropriate and useful to our readers. Badagnani (talk) 06:45, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

any experts on his books or Văn Lang here?

[edit]

The article Văn Lang seems to be based to a large extent on his book Việt Nam Sử Lược. It suggests there was an ancient civilization in Viet Nam that lasted for 2 thousand years. Would anyone like to add some detail to the Văn Lang article, or otherwise evaluate its truthiness? I'm finding it hard to find enough information about Văn Lang to determine whether it was real, or just a myth. AllGloryToTheHypnotoad (talk) 14:52, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
